Progress on Public Toilets in Parks Project

We are thrilled to share the latest update on the Public Toilets in Parks project, which is bringing modern, accessible toilet facilities to The Meadows, Inverleith Park, and Leith Links.

This important initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience while ensuring our parks remain inclusive and functional for everyone.

What’s New?
The latest landscape layout for the area around the new toilets has been finalised. These plans prioritise:

  • Accessibility: Smooth pathways and user-friendly layouts.
  • Functionality: A seating area, bike racks, and an external water tap for trees and green roof maintenance.
  • Integration: A design that aligns with the unique characteristics of each park while enhancing ease of navigation.

The designs were developed in collaboration with park users, community groups, and officers, ensuring they reflect both practical needs and local priorities. We have worked closely with tree and park officers, utility companies, and groundworkers to address challenges such as root protection areas, utility connections, and access to the modular units.

What’s Next?

The construction phase plan is now being finalised in partnership with Healthmatic. Works are set to begin shortly, with dates for each site to be confirmed soon. Everything remains on schedule, and we are progressing efficiently thanks to strong collaboration and careful project management.

We will update our website with more information for members of the public as works progress. Stay tuned for further updates, including confirmed start dates and exciting milestones.
