Public toilets in Parks Project Update - April 2025
We are very excited to announce that two (out of the three) toilet units have been successfully delivered.
The first unit arrived at The Meadows at the beginning of April, and Inverleith received the unit on the Wednesday 23 April. This marks a key milestone for us, and it's great to see the final designed units in position. The delivery involved significant coordination, and despite minor concerns about wind and narrow access roads, we managed to safely deliver the units without any issues.
Excavation for the foundations has started at Leith Links, and we expect the last unit to be delivered very soon.
At The Meadows, the base of the boardwalk has been built to accommodate the sensitivities of the landscape, such as avoiding damage to tree roots.

Project Timeline
We are pleased to announce the construction schedule for each site:
The Meadows:
- Works Start Date: 26 February 2025
- Toilet Installation: Week commencing 31 March 2025
- Completion Date: second half of May.
Inverleith Park:
- Works Start Date: 25 March 2025
- Toilet Installation: Week commencing 22 April 2025
- Completion Date: early June 2025
Leith Links:
- Works Start Date: 8 April 2025
- Toilet Installation: Week commencing 6 May 2025
- Completion Date: mid-June 2025
Please note that lighting and CCTV camera installations will take place after the main construction phases. We are coordinating with the respective teams and will provide updates once schedules are confirmed.
Next Steps:
Over the next couple of weeks, we will focus on finalising the utility connections and landscaping around the units.
We will continue to work with Park officers and on-site teams to complete construction activities while minimising disruption, ensuring park users can safely enjoy the spaces.
The project team is dedicated to delivering the construction phase, implementing signage and wayfinders at The Meadows, Inverleith Park and Leith Links, while continuing to work across departments to update web pages and co-develop a maintenance plan for the new toilets.
