Cramond Village and Foreshore
Cramond Village and Foreshore: A Community Vision
We are supporting a community-driven initiative to shape the future of Cramond Village and Foreshore. This initiative is led by the Thriving Greenspace Team, in partnership with the Cramond Association and with the support of the Cramond Community Council. Our focus is to create a long-term vision to enhance the Cramond Foreshore while addressing issues of parking and access to the harbour.
Backround
The Cramond Association is an enthusiastic community group representing people living in Cramond, Barnton, and Cammo. Their focus is to encourage more involvement in local activities and to protect and improve the area’s environment for the benefit of all. The Association will host public meetings to discuss all approaches to the Foreshore, including car parking management, and future opportunities for the promenade.
Our Shared Vision
The Cramond Association and Thriving Green Spaces commissioned Optimised Environment (OP-EN), a multi-disciplined design consultancy. OPEN will produce a number of graphics and illustrations to capture our shared vision and the art of possible for Cramond Village. This project aims to create a sustainable, community-centred future for Cramond Village. It’s not about short-term fixes, but about planning long-term improvements. We are working with local groups to explore ways to improve key infrastructure. This includes improving the car park, and public toilets.
Why Are We Doing This?
Cramond Village is a much-loved spot known for its beautiful views, historic sites, and outdoor activities. The area’s growing popularity has led to issues with parking, traffic, and access to public amenities. Through this initiative, we aim to:
- Improve the Visitor Experience. Better parking and toilet facilities will make the village more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
- Support the Local Community. Upgrading infrastructure will reduce traffic congestion, provide cleaner public spaces, and help local businesses.
- Protect the Environment. Responsible management of parking and public facilities will help preserve Cramond’s natural beauty for future generations.
Working Together
We are working closely with the Cramond Association and other local groups to ensure that any changes reflect the community’s needs. We encourage residents, visitors, and local businesses to share their ideas and help shape the future of Cramond Village and Foreshore.
